Terry Kirkwood DA
A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, Terry has since exhibited widely throughout the British Isles and in New York. She has paintings in many private and corporate collections both at home and abroad including, in the equestrian world, those of the Duke and Duchess of Richmond at Goodwood, Ripon race course, Zara Philips, Mark Todd, Kevin Staut, John Francome, Robert Thornton, Major Richard Waygood and Tanya and Mark Kyle. Her paintings and prints have been hung throughout the impressive Ingliston Equestrian Centre. She has exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.
Terry works happily in water-colour, oil and mixed media. Her artwork often includes animals with a series of brush drawings or studies forming the seed corn for larger more decorative canvases or panels. Her paintings catch the line, movement balance, beauty and elegance of the horse, for which she has had a passion and admiration since her days as a teenage stable hand. Many hours spent at Glasgow Veterinary School helped her understand the form and muscle structure so essential in creating a work of art that faithfully expresses her passion. She comments: “If it moves me, I paint it!”
She has been commissioned to design a delightful and best selling range of eight equestrian decorative designs on tableware for Gabriella Shaw Ceramics. Her prints have sold throughout the USA as a result of being featured in Back in the Saddle (specialist mail order catalogue), while 2,000 have also been supplied to a French distributor. Her paintings have been published as limited editions by De Montfort Fine Art and as open editions by New York Graphic Society and she has invested in fine art printing equipment to support her own self-publishing business.
Terry regularly exhibits at The Horse of the Year Show, The London International Horse Show at Olympia, three day events including Blair and Bramham and The Royal Highland Show. Her paintings are exhibited every year at Art Fairs around the country in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Bristol. From time to time she exhibits at galleries including: The Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh, Iona House Gallery, Woodstock, The Quay Gallery, Aberdour, The Torrance Gallery, Edinburgh and The Atholl Gallery, Dunkeld.
The Arabian Magazine is delighted to offer a range of Terry’s limited edition prints to its clients and we are sure that these will become very sought after.
